In this Reddit thread, the couple has struggled financially for years, to the point where they couldn't even buy each other Christmas gifts one year. They have one child, a dog, and a home. After years of struggling, they finally have a safety net. This sparks the wife to suggest having another kid and getting another dog. I'm on the husband's side; just because you're in the green now, doesn't mean to throw it all away the second you have it.
